Lime Rock Historic 2025

This weekend, I had the privilege of immersing myself in the unique experience of the Lime Rock Historic event. Tucked away in the picturesque Northwest hills of Connecticut, this gem is just a few hours' drive away. The track, a delight for both spectators and photographers, is nestled in a valley, offering breathtaking elevation changes, a long straight, and an endless array of car sightings. It's a truly unique motorsport venue that evokes a sense of wonder and excitement. 

I could go on and on about the facility itself, but when you mix that with the iconic cars from thirty, forty, or a hundred years ago, you're given a glimpse of what early motorsports was like. The roar of the engines, the smell of burning rubber, the sight of these vintage beauties tearing up the track-it's an experience like no other. Raw, simple, elegant. Instead of chips and relays, it was switches and cables: large motors, small chassis, and limited attention to safety. As I walked, I kept thinking that if you have the fearless gene, that attraction to motorsport, it truly never goes away. No matter how old you may get, if you have the bug and an able body, you may find yourself hurdling down the straight in a metal tube that could tell more tales than a fisherman.

Thank you to Marsh McLennan for having me, providing a place to call home base for the day, and for the hospitality. I have wanted to attend the Historic event for the past few years, and they finally allowed me to take part. I am hooked!
